The beloved Paper Girls comic is being picked up as a television series on Amazon

Paper Girls is a comic set in Ohio in the 1980s where a group of local teens try to work selling newspapers and then they find themselves solving mysteries and experience some cool time traveling adventures.

Amazon is set to take Image Comics, Paper Girls to the screen and fans of the comic couldn’t be more excited.

Brian K. Vaughan who is also the writer of the Saga comic created a new fandom with the comic bringing together fans who love Stranger Things and mystery stories together.

According to AV Club, Amazon has been eyeing the comic for sometime now and with the pandemic, more people are going to be home streaming content.

“Toy Story 4” writer Stephany Folsom is expected to be the writer for the series according to Variety.

“As huge fans of what Brian and Cliff created in ‘Paper Girls,’ we couldn’t be more excited by the opportunity to bring this incredible adventure to life,” said Folsom, Cantwell and Rogers in a statement. “This is a story with so much heart, and so many unique colors and dimensions — our sincere hope is not only to do justice to the source material, but to make ‘Paper Girls; unlike anything else currently on TV, ” Folsom stated as told by Variety.

Even though the comic has 30 issues, there’s plenty of material to have at least two seasons.

Vaughan and Chiang will be hands on with the series.

“We love bringing ‘Paper Girls; to our global Amazon Prime Video audience as an original series. Brian’s beloved, widely acclaimed and multiple Eisner Award-winning story delivers a gripping concept grounded by compelling characters,” added Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television at Amazon Studios. “We have a great partnership with Legendary and Plan B, and the perfect creative team of Stephany, Christopher, and Christopher, to bring Brian and Cliff’s graphic novels to life.”
