I love summers in New York City because there is so much dope shit to do and see. Last Saturday I was torn between hanging out at the Brooklyn Museum or seeing Robert Glasper. I picked Glasper because it was such a beautiful night that I was compelled to be serenaded under the moon.
This is my second time seeing Glasper and I’m still in love with his live performance. He ease and command of his piano along with his funky trio leaves me speechless. In true hip hop fashion, it was no surprise to hear the pianist play some of his favorite J Dilla joints and to have Talib Kweli join him towards the end for his set to collab on some of Talib’s hit like ” Get By”.
So, Robert Glasper decided to battle Talib Kweli and who knew Robert Glasper could rap, let alone sound like MF DOOM. I was quite entertained by him and I loved how his set syncs and can mimic MPc’s drums.
