We all love afrofuturism, right? Yeah, of course you do. But you know what? We have to take it a step further when it comes to decolonizing our reading. We must make a better effort of including Black authors and writers who live throughout the African diaspora.
My ignorance didn’t even think about what sci-fi, fantasy and Speculative Fiction looks like outside of America and the Caribbean. Once I started discovering African writers it opened my imagination to a broader appreciation for the Black imagination.
