Alexander McQueen still captivates audiences even in death: Met Museum extends exhibit

Published

on

In November 2010, the Metropolitan Museum announced they would have an Alexander McQueen exhibit. The exhibit , “Salvage Beauty” is an ethereal fantasy of costumes the late-great designer created before he committed suicide in February of 2010. The exhibit has been a success and the Met Museum is now extending the exhibit until August. 7th.

The romantic and dark exhibit showcases fashion as more than pretty clothes and shoes. It displays fashion at its artistic best. Alexander McQueen had a tattoo on his arm, “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind” which is actually a Shakespeare quote that McQueen embraced throughout his life as an artist and designer.
