They say don’t judge a book by its cover but can you help us? I’ll admit I’ve made quite a few book purchases just based off of the cover. I know it’s wrong and I should know better, but can you blame me for not being able to resist a Black girl magic cover? Or Indigenous fantasy protagonists? I mean, it’s not everyday I see dark skin, plus-size protagonists on book covers. So, when I see them, like Pokémon, I gotta catch them all!
Some of the best book covers dropping in March 2021 by Black and POC authors.
It’s the barrettes for me! It feels like my childhood in the summer when I was jumping double-dutch. You can hear the click-clacking of the ropes, the rhythm from me jumping and my barrettes clacking in-line with my friends turning rope.
Give me all the Harlem Renaissance-inspired historical fiction, okay. The legendary messy stories of our ancestors need to come to light and live for the drama and the beautiful gowns.
This cover is so emotional and powerful! A Brown girl in a fetal position in a beautiful sea of flowers. We can all incorporate some non-western romance books into our lives.
A cute rom-com cover that you can enjoy on a weekend over tea.
