Itching to be Green? Here’s how to Flex your Botanical Muscle

Published on

Last week, Blavity wrote a really insightful post about black farmers and I was thinking that everyone should know how to produce their own foods, at least to some degree. When I was young I enjoyed gardening very much and it was fun, productive and economically sound.

But I live in New York City where gardening isn’t an option, so I decided to stay determined on having my own little garden on my fire escape. One of the rules of gardening is consistency and timing. If you want to grow veggies, now is the time to start so you can have something nice by mid-late summer.

At Peace & Riot, they have these really cool herb boxes and just water and go!

You can have a green pinky and get these to grow. #peaceandriot #NYNOW

And for my beauty queens you should consider growing herbs like sage, basil and mint to your body and face 🙂
