Pharrell Williams is taking “Girl” his new album and is expanding on its success by creating a fragrance and an art exhibit in Paris which he will curate with several noted female artists.

GIRL POWER: Pharrell Williams is trying on another interesting hat: curator. Next month, the musician is to unveil an exhibition titled “Girl” — the same moniker as his sophomore album, and a forthcoming scent with Comme des Garçons — at Emmanuel Perrotin’s new space in Paris, the Salle de Bal. It is to feature 40 works by prominent artists, most of them female, including Marina Abramovic, Sophie Calle, Cindy Sherman and Tracey Emin. The showcase opens May 27 and runs through June 25.

Williams and Perrotin have been collaborating since 2007, when they met in Miami and the French art dealer asked Williams to create design and art objects, including unusual chairs.

Pharrell has been receiving a lot of flack for not using more dark women in his videos and promos. His recent cover for “Girl” struck a chord with some folks on social media and even went as far to label him a colorist. I don’t believe Pharrell is a colorist ut I understand the position of the people that believes he is.
