Nigerian-American author Nnedi Okorafor writes from an Afrofuturistic and Afrojujuism perspective. Her works are for children and adults. She has earned recognition for her books including several awards and nominations, and her book Who Fears Death is in development at HBO for a tv series.

Okorafor has an impressive resume when it comes to comics. For starters, you might be familiar with a little character called: SHURI. Yes, that Shuri. Princess of Wakanda Shuri. For her work on the Shuri comic, Okorafor won a Nommo Award for Best Graphic Novel. In addition, she wrote Black Panther: Long Live the King which was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novella. Finally, she is the writer of Wakanda Forever, also published by Marvel Comics. But that’s not all her work in comics. Okorafor wrote the Eisner Award-winning LaGuardia of Dark Horse Comics for Best Reprint for adults. Finally, she wrote Antar: The Black Knight for IDW.

One of Okorafor’s latest books is Remote Control, read about it here. Check out her work overall and immerse yourself in her comics.

I identify as a womanist. I also identify as both gay and queer. I am gender fluid and respond to he/him, she/her, and they/them. I am a Black American-Descendant of American Chattel Slavery who is pro Black Diaspora and pro creating Global Black Strongholds (Blacks across the Diaspora holding it down in each region to allow all Blacks to go to each, and be safe and in community together). I am a comics, tv, movie, and video game stan. My expertise for comics and related media are DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Archie Comics, and a little bit of others here and there, but I'm hoping to branch out to other, Blacker and indie comics and related content. I'm a binge watcher and can talk about shows and movies for days. You can find me on YouTube and various other social media platforms as thaboiinblue.
