Fans of the Regency-era romance drama and Netflix hit, Bridgerton are heartbroken after learning an event in Michigan intentionally preyed on fans.  Now being dubbed the “Fyre Fest” of fandoms, fans are still reeling in from the betrayal from the organizers of the event. Even if one has never seen the series, a quick view of the promotional images and stills would give you an idea of the mood fans expected. Instead of tea and watercress finger sandwiches, eager partygoers were met with hot dogs and one, single stripper per the reports. What the hell happened?

According to some of the participants, the event offered tickets for $100 up to over one grand. But partygoers who attended uploaded numerous videos and photos across social media to show the unprofessionalism of the event hosts. Allegedly the chicken was raw and the utensils didn’t look clean. There was also a stripper ( emphasis on “a” as in singular). While strippers serve as great entertainment, a ballerina would have been more fitting for this event.

Detroit Metro Times has identified the organizers as Uncle & Me Event Management. One social media user ( that was referenced in the Detroit Metro) revealed that they work at the location where this ball was being held. They stated the organizers still had an unpaid balance despite the partygoers’ arrival.  

Here are a few things to consider before supporting and traveling to an event with a company or organization you’ve never experienced before.

• Research the company. Search for LinkedIn, do your Google searches on the owners, and contact people. If they are professionals, they should have a public body of work you can review.
• Before you pay for an event with an unknown host, double-check the refund policies. If you have to spend over a certain amount of money and can’t get a refund you may want to side-eye your guest.
• Never travel without telling others where you are going.

Ultimately, people think passionate fans are easy targets to scam. They notice how much fans are willing to pay for a dedicated experience and want to profit from it.
